Lauren Greenhouse

From June to August, 2026

Born and raised in the north Seattle suburb of Lake Forest Park, Lauren Greathouse received her BA in English and BFA in Photography from Washington State University in 2003. In 2007, she earned an MFA in photography from Louisiana State University and after graduation, spent 2 years as a still photographer on film and television sets in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Greathouse returned to the pacific northwest in 2009, and shortly after, began teaching for the University of Georgia's study abroad program in Cortona, Italy.

Currently, Lauren is teaching photography classes at Everett and Shoreline Community Colleges. She has work in the permanent collection at the Ogden Museum of Southern art, and has been awarded residencies from Photo Center Northwest in Seattle and the Hambidge Center in north east Georgia.

Lauren's most recent body of work focuses on the changing landscape of the Northwest and was the recipient of a GAP Grant from the Artist Trust of Washington State. She has always been fascinated by the power of the photograph to record; fascinated more by the weight of a photograph not at the time taken, but what it can tell us about something or someone years from its conception; when that moment no longer exists.
